Technology & AI for Business

AI can draft the follow-up. It cannot know what you promised the customer.

Small business sales runs on remembering who asked what, replying quickly and not losing the thread. AI can help with parts of that, and it can also invent a discount, misquote a delivery date or send the wrong message to the wrong person. This session shows the sales tasks where it saves time and the checks that keep it honest.

Sales is where a confident wrong sentence costs the most.

A customer who gets a quick, clear reply is more likely to stay in the conversation. A customer who gets a wrong price, a promise you cannot keep or a message that obviously was not written for them may not come back. AI makes both outcomes faster.

Used with care, it takes over the slow parts of selling: first drafts, summaries, preparation. Used carelessly, it speaks for your business without knowing the facts. This session is about the first use and the habits that prevent the second.

What the session covers

35 topics across 7 areas. Seven parts, practised on realistic sales tasks.

Where AI Fits in SellingThe slow, repetitive parts first.6
  • Drafting replies to common enquiries
  • Turning rough notes into a clear proposal
  • Summarising a long conversation thread
  • Preparing questions before a customer meeting
  • Writing a follow-up after a visit or call
  • Practising answers to objections
Drafting Messages That Sound Like YouContext in, a better first draft out.5
  • Telling it who the customer is and what they asked
  • Giving it a few of your own past messages as a style guide
  • Asking for a short WhatsApp reply versus a formal email
  • Editing out filler and anything you would not say
  • Keeping the language your customer actually uses

If every message sounds the same as everyone else's, customers notice.

Proposals and QuotationsWhere the details matter most.5

AI will happily produce a convincing price or a delivery promise. Treat any number it generates as unverified.

  • Using a standard base that you control
  • Filling in prices, quantities and dates yourself
  • Checking every figure against your own price list
  • Terms, warranty and delivery wording reviewed by you
  • Never letting a draft go out with a placeholder left in
Tracking and Following UpAI helps you write; it does not remember for you.5
  • A sheet or CRM as the source of truth for each enquiry
  • Listing which customers are waiting for a reply
  • Drafting a polite nudge for each of them
  • Recording what was actually sent and promised
  • A weekly review of enquiries that went quiet
Knowing the CustomerPreparation, not guesswork.4
  • Summarising a customer's public website or listing
  • Drafting questions based on what they have told you
  • Spotting what a repeat customer usually orders
  • Not inventing facts about a person or business

Check anything it says about a named customer. It may be wrong, or about a different business.

Customer Data and ConsentWho you may message, and what you may paste in.5
  • Not pasting customer names, numbers or order details into a tool you have not checked
  • Replacing real details with placeholders when drafting
  • Messaging only people who can reasonably expect to hear from you
  • Knowing that India has rules on commercial messages and calls, and checking the current ones
  • Honouring a request to stop
What a Person Must DecideThe line you draw before you start.5
  • Prices, discounts and credit terms
  • Delivery and service commitments
  • Handling a complaint or a lost customer
  • Anything legal, tax or contractual
  • Whether to say yes to a difficult request

Practised in the room

  • Drafting and editing a reply to an enquiry written for a made-up customer
  • Building a proposal from a template and checking every figure
  • Spotting the deliberately planted wrong price in a draft
  • Writing a polite follow-up for three quiet leads

A check before anything is sent

  • Is every price, date and quantity correct?
  • Is there any promise I cannot keep?
  • Does it use the customer's real name and need?
  • Is there any personal data I should not have shared?
  • Would I be comfortable if the customer saw how it was written?

How the session runs

A practitioner who sells for a living shows how they use AI on ordinary tasks such as a follow-up, a proposal and a summary, including a draft that goes wrong. Participants try one task from their own sales work using made-up customer details, then swap drafts and check each other's figures. The session does not recommend or rank any product.

What your students leave with

  • One sales task from their own business handed to AI as a trial
  • A reusable way to draft follow-ups that sound like them
  • A habit of checking every price, date and promise before sending
  • A clear line between what AI drafts and what a person decides
  • Rules for customer data and for messaging people who did not ask
  • A simple way to compare time and results before and after
