Placement Readiness Weeks
The week ends. The preparation should not.
By the last session, students have done each step of the process once. This session turns that into a plan: what each student should practise next, what the college can do with what was found, and how to keep it going when the volunteers have left.

A week of sessions fades quickly unless something is left behind.
Students come out of a busy week with a lot of advice and no order to put it in. Within a month most of it is forgotten, and the pressure of placements pushes out what was not written down.
The closing session asks each student to look at what they actually practised and decide what to do next. It also gives the college what it needs to carry on: a record, an honest note on the batch's gaps, and a simple follow-up plan.
We do not promise that a week changes placement outcomes. What it can do is give students a chance to practise each step, and show the college where its batch is weakest.
What the closing session does
17 topics across 4 areas. Four parts, one for students and three for the college.
A Student's Own Next StepsWritten by the student, not for them.4
- Looking back at what was practised across the week
- Choosing the two or three things that need the most work
- Writing each as a small action with a date
- Deciding who can help: a friend, a faculty member, a senior
A short list a student will follow is better than a long one they will not.
What Was SeenA plain account for the college.4
This is a description of what was observed in the sessions. It is not a ranking, and it names no student in public. It rests on the sessions that were actually run, so the more sessions a college runs, the more it can say.
- Common strengths across the batch
- Common gaps, with examples
- Students who may need more attention
- What the volunteers noticed that the college may not see
The Follow-Up PlanWhat the college can keep running.5
- Weekly practice groups led by students
- A resume check before each company visit
- A short practice round before each company's selection process
- Pairing students with seniors or alumni, if the college has them
- A date on which the cell reviews progress
The RecordKept by the college.4
- Attendance for each session
- What each session covered
- Feedback collected from students and volunteers
- The follow-up plan, with names of those responsible
The record is shared with the college.
Questions the closing session asks
- What did you practise this week that you had not done before?
- What felt hardest, and what will you do about it?
- Who will you ask for feedback next?
- What will you do this week, and what next month?
- What should the college do for those who found it hard?
What the college leaves with
- Attendance and session record
- A short note on the strengths and gaps of the batch
- A follow-up plan with owners and dates
- A list of what students said they need
How the session runs
Students spend part of the session writing their own next steps, with a volunteer or a faculty member available to talk through them. A short account of what was seen follows, shared with the batch in general terms. The remaining time goes to the follow-up plan, with the placement cell. The length and format are agreed with the college.
What your students leave with
- A written list of next steps for each student, in their own words
- A short view of the batch's strengths and gaps, from what was observed
- A follow-up plan the college can run without us
- A record of what was run and who attended
- Students who know the next thing to practise, and by when
Scheduled sessions
Nothing scheduled yet
Sessions are arranged with a college once a date is agreed. Ask us and we will find the right person for it.
A student rather than a college? See what is coming up, or ask your placement team to host this.
Leave the college with a plan and each student with a next step.
Tell us who your students are and what stage they are at. Sessions are free for participants.
